Actually TGTU inlet stream should contain only sulphur dioxide gas as per the material balance. The high temp at the inlet of TGTU means there is sulphur fire in 2nd claus reactor and it can generate more sulphur dioxide gas. if SO2 gas is increased at the inlet in TGTU we can not convert SO2 gas in to H2S gas further the SO2 gas only will travel to TGTU Absorber and SO2 will skip to Incinerator and SO2 will burn in Incinerator and Temp in Incinerator increase it will trip Incinerator and more SO2 will go to atmosphere .
The answer is sulphur fire at the upstream of TGTU

My answer is based on the assumption that the amine system is part of TGTU and not the upstream ATUs
The ATU must have been designed for a limiting feed stream temperature and any high temperatures could upset and affect the performance severely,if you feed high temperature it will heat up your lean amine vaporise it and degrade it.It will also affect the metallurgy in long run.To avoid this possibility the trip has been provided.
This is a safety feature and the possibility of high temperature may be failure of Cooling water or power failure in which case there will be a trip any way. But do not thing of feeding high temperature gas to TGTU for any reason.

If the amine vaporizes quickly, the internals can be upset. If the amine heats up slowly to higher than normal temperature, decomposition of the amine will result.
