In the vacuum distillation unit, we face problem with Gas Oil end point i.e., VGO 95%, Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem or anyone have seen this in any refinery?

What is the problem ? High 95% point can not be a problem if CCR is under control. Lower 95% point means higher pump around rates (lower draw off temperatures of HVGO). Higher internal refluxes could be due to leaking HVGO accumulator trays. Other contributor could be channeling in the packed beds, partially choked reflux distributor nozzles etc., Problem definition need to be a bit more specific.

Controlling the 95% point is usually not an operating objective. Metals content is the important spec, and that is monitored by the con carbon analyses, as they are closely related.

Performing vacuum distillation (ASTM D 1160) of vacuum gas oil or Simdistillation (ASTM D 7169) also helps in knowing the gap, between the cuts. Carbon residue test of the vacuum gas oil also can given an idea to an extent for End Point.

Couple of points. Check T95% first with D1160 method as other methods (HTSIMDIST) can give erroneous results. Other way of checking the result could be to start looking at slope of T90% and T95% to see any sharp deviation. Operationally, check for C factor and wetting velocity and control the same within limits. On worst case scenario, look at pr drop in slop wax bed for any deterioration.

Normally there is no fractionation between vacuum resid and HVGO, therefore, there is little ability to control the 95% point without fundamentally shifting the yields. If your wash zone is not working properly, you could also see an increase in the 95% point due to entrainment of residue into the HVGO. Entrainment would also be marked by an increase in the metals content and con carbon in the HVGO. If these parameters are high, increasing the wash oil rate may help (assuming no damage to the wash bed packing). If they are not high, you will probably need to lower the heater outlet temperature to reduce the cut point between vac resid and HVGO.
